Bloodstock 2027 has already delivered a huge first lineup announcement, with Mercyful Fate, Electric Callboy and Motionless In White confirmed as next year’s three main-stage headliners.
The first wave of bands was revealed on the Ronnie James Dio Stage at this year’s Bloodstock, immediately after Municipal Waste’s performance, giving fans at Catton Park their first glimpse of what is in store for 2027.
And judging by the first announcement, Bloodstock is showing no signs of slowing down.
Three Very Different Headliners
Friday night will see the return of legendary Danish heavy metal band Mercyful Fate, who will headline the Ronnie James Dio Stage for the first time since their 2022 appearance.
The band’s return will be particularly exciting for fans following the news that Mercyful Fate have new music on the way. Their Bloodstock 2027 performance is set to feature a brand-new album, making their return to Catton Park even more significant.
Saturday will bring a very different kind of chaos as Electric Callboy make their Bloodstock debut as headliners with their all-new album Tanzneid.
Fresh from the release of their new album Tanzneid, the German metalcore and electronicore favourites are set to bring their combination of crushing riffs, electronic beats, outrageous outfits and huge festival energy to the main stage.
It is difficult to imagine a better setting for Electric Callboy than Bloodstock.
Sunday will then see Motionless In White close out the Ronnie James Dio Stage.
The Pennsylvania metalcore giants will make their Bloodstock debut and have confirmed that the festival will be their only UK show of 2027. The appearance will also mark their first European festival headline performance.
With three headliners covering everything from classic heavy metal to modern metalcore and electronic-infused chaos, Bloodstock has already managed to give its 2027 lineup plenty of variety.
Dethklok, Madball, Gaerea And Kanonenfieber Lead The Sophie Lancaster Stage
The Sophie Lancaster Stage is also getting some major names in 2027.
Metalocalypse favourites Dethklok will headline the stage on Sunday, while Madball will take the Thursday headline slot, Gaerea will headline on Friday and Kanonenfieber will close out Saturday.
For fans who prefer their metal on the heavier and more extreme side, there is plenty to get excited about.
The first announcement also includes Dool, Pig Destroyer and Fulci, adding even more variety to a stage that has become an important part of the Bloodstock experience.
Acid Bath, Green Lung And Children Of Bodom Join The Main Stage
The Ronnie James Dio Stage will feature some huge special guests alongside next year’s headliners.
Acid Bath will appear on Friday, Green Lung will take to the stage on Saturday, while Children Of Bodom will perform on Sunday in a special appearance celebrating the legacy of the band’s iconic frontman Alexi Laiho.
That alone would make for a strong weekend, but Bloodstock has gone much further with its first wave.
Also confirmed are Devildriver, Corrosion Of Conformity, Imminence, Wind Rose, Sylosis, Decapitated, Witch Club Satan, HammerFall, Hypocrisy, The Halo Effect, Tortured Demon, Gutalax, Humanity’s Last Breath and Conan.
The lineup manages to cover a huge portion of the metal spectrum, from traditional heavy metal and doom to death metal, progressive sounds, metalcore and extreme metal.
Bloodstock 2027 Is Already Looking Huge
There is still a long way to go before Bloodstock 2027, and this is only the festival’s first lineup announcement.
That’s what makes the first wave particularly impressive.
Mercyful Fate bring decades of heavy metal history. Electric Callboy offer one of the most energetic and unpredictable live shows in modern metal. Motionless In White arrive as one of the biggest names in contemporary metalcore, while the rest of the lineup covers everything from black metal and death metal to doom, thrash and progressive sounds.
It is exactly the kind of varied but unapologetically heavy lineup that Bloodstock has become known for.
And with more bands still to be announced, there is plenty of room for the 2027 lineup to get even bigger.
When Is Bloodstock 2027?
Bloodstock Festival 2027 will take place from 5–8 August 2027 at Catton Park in Derbyshire.
Fans attending this year’s festival have been able to get their hands on early-bird tickets on-site, while general ticket sales will begin on Monday 10 August at 9am.
With three major headliners already confirmed and a first wave packed with some of the biggest and most interesting names in heavy music, Bloodstock 2027 is already looking like one of the standout dates on the UK’s metal festival calendar.
